Government recruitment platform to launch carer careers

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has launched an online platform designed to fast-track recruitment into the adult social care sector.

The platform, named Join Social Care, allows registered users to apply to become a social care worker via their smartphone.

Candidates can fill out an online application form and record a video CV that will be forwarded to regulated care providers.

Providers will be able to search for local candidates and view the video interviews before starting DBS checks ahead of making conditional offers.

Free online induction training for candidates will be provided by Skills for Care-endorsed learning providers and will include infection prevention and control, first aid and safeguarding adults.

“Crucially, candidates who want to work in social care can get free training and DBS checks, as well as access to job opportunities," said Care Minister Helen Whately (pictured).

"We want to see thousands more people taking up the chance to work in care, boosting the social care workforce in this unprecedented time,” she added.

The platform has been developed and licenced to DHSC by London technology outfit Cera Care.
