Britton Price Training will next week launch an online safe people handling essential skills course for use during the Covid-19 outbreak.
The RoSPA-accredited course will cover areas of people handling including assisted sit to stand, use of slide sheets in bed, use of an active hoist, and use of a passive hoist.
The course, which will launch on 8 April, will be delivered online via video conferencing system Zoom.
Delegates will be trained, marked and certified remotely by Britton Price.
The course has been written as a short term, emergency measure in reaction to the unusual circumstances presented during the Covid-19 outbreak and will not replace the need for more regular training once the outbreak is over, the company said.
“With many of our existing customers telling us they are losing a large number of staff to either self-isolation or who may be showing symptoms of coronavirus, they are now having to recruit on a massive scale including the use of volunteers,” said Britton Price training director Mark Cable.
“Our new accredited course in safe people handling has been designed to be able to fast track these new start employees or volunteers on to the care floor in a much more streamlined manner whilst still ensuring the safety of residents and staff alike,” he added.
