Arjo empowering movement at Care Show London

At Arjo, we believe that empowering movement within healthcare environments is essential to quality care. Our products and solutions are designed to promote a safe and dignified experience through patient handling, medical beds, personal hygiene, disinfection, diagnostics, the prevention of pressure injuries and venous thromboembolism.

We also offer added value with service, rentals, clinical consultancy, education and clinical insights. With over 6000 people worldwide and 60 years caring for residents, patients and healthcare professionals, we are committed to driving healthier outcomes for people facing mobility challenges.

Empowering movement is at the heart of everything we do. It’s at the centre of our product design philosophy. It’s how we help care facilities stay agile and efficient. It’s about enabling caregivers to move freely and productively. And for residents, it’s about enhancing mobility to promote wellbeing, dignity and independence. By focusing on empowering movement, Arjo’s products and services have been developed to:

· Protect the wellbeing of caregivers

· Prevent the impact of immobility

· Promote greater wellbeing with dignity

· Optimise costs and efficiencies in care

Residents are mainly in long-term care to meet their needs for safety and care, with a focus on optimising their functional mobility, maintaining their wellbeing over long periods of time, and preventing the negative effects of immobility, such as falls, pressure injuries and functional incontinence.¹

The Mobility gallery has been developed to help define resident functional mobility and the impact it has on the delivery of care. It is an assessment and communication tool, based on five levels of mobility from A (mobile and independent) to E (immobile and highly dependent). Understanding how your resident can contribute to their mobility, as well as safeguarding caregivers from injuries is essential in helping to find the right equipment and care processes to facilitate or maintain mobility.

Undertaking individual risk assessments and implementing appropriate interventions are key to defining the safe and optimal mobilisation solutions required for each resident’s level of mobility.
