National property consultancy Carter Jonas has secured planning consent to extend Bartlett’s Residential Home in Stone, Buckinghamshire.
Consent was sought on behalf of Peverel Court Care, which is seeking to supplement the existing range of facilities at Bartlett’s. Carter Jonas worked alongside architects Ifor Rhys Ltd.
The planning consent will allow Bartlett’s to build an activities centre, consisting of a games room, hair and beauty salon, therapy room with gym, access to cooking classes and a putting green, a staff training suite and care reference library, and four elderly care lodges. These dementia-friendly lodges will incorporate features to aid those living with dementia and various sensory impairments.
The planning consent also includes a new all-day café/restaurant which will form the focal point for social activities.
Huw Mellor, partner at Carter Jonas, said: “Bartlett’s has been an important part of the local community for many years, providing employment for over sixty people. This planning consent will enable Bartlett’s to continue to play an active role in the community for years to come and will provide approximately 25 new jobs. This planning consent is not only good news for the residents and their families, but also for staff present and future and the local community.”
Anil Dhanani of Peverel Court Care added: “Over the next 12 years it is predicted that the number of people over 85 years of age will rise by 78 per cent per cent in Buckinghamshire, with a higher percentage around the Aylesbury area. So it is crucial that Buckinghamshire is adequately prepared to meet the needs of its elderly population with appropriate facilities and this planning consent is an important means of doing so.”
