Walter Thompson Contractors is to build Exemplar Health Care’s £4.7m Tees Grange care home in Stockton-on-Tees.
The Northallerton-based outfit has signed a design and build contract with the specialist care provider for a 30-bed scheme.
Tees Grange, scheduled to open on Norton Road in early 2023, will specialise in supporting people living with dementia, acquired brain injury, mental health needs and physical disabilities.
“We are pleased to announce that, through collaborative working, planning permission for a new care home in Stockton-on-Tees has now been granted,” said Paul Hammerton, managing director of Walter Thompson Contractors.
“With an investment of £4.7m, this is our second care home development in Stockton and one of many projects we are working on with Exemplar Health Care,” he added.
Exemplar Health Care developments director Charlotte Lloyd said: “We’re delighted to be growing our community within the County Durham region with our first care home in Stockton-on-Tees.
“Tees Grange will provide specialist, nurse-led care from our highly skilled team, supporting the residents by building their everyday life skills and helping them build on their independence. It’s our ambition for Tees Grange to be a place where we host community events, and where our residents can be part of the community, through work placements, local events or volunteering.”
In a related development, Walter Thompson Contractors has kicked off construction of Exemplar’s Adswood Lodge care home in Stockport in Greater Manchester.
The £3.7m scheme will provide specialist nursing care for 30 residents - each with an ensuite wet room - for adults living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
