Saint Cecilia’s adds to nursing home portfolio with Whitby acquisition

North Yorkshire provider Saint Cecilia’s Care Group has acquired Oakland nursing home in Whitby from Mondial Care, saving it from possible closure.

Saint Cecilia’s will take over the running of the care home, rated as requiring improvement by the Care Quality Commission, in the coming weeks.

“It is currently facing some challenges, but after 30-plus years delivering care, these are challenges that we have faced before and we are confident of turning it around,” said Saint Cecilia’s director Aaron Padgham.

“The takeover of Oakland will help us as we continue to grow to the size that we believe best enables a care group to survive and flourish in these challenging times,” he added.

Padgham continued: “This is an exciting move for the group as we believe Oakland is a good home with an excellent future ahead of it and that it will be a good addition to the Saint Cecilia’s portfolio”.

Oakland becomes Saint Cecilia’s second nursing home, joining Saint Cecilia’s Nursing Home on Queen Margaret’s Road in Scarborough.

Saint Cecilia’s have begun recruiting new staff for Oakland and is looking for applicants for a number of posts.

All existing staff are being offered posts with the new employer, matching their current pay, terms and conditions.
