Simply UK has submitted plans to build a 70-bed care home in St Andrews on the east coast of central Scotland.
The paperwork filed with Fife Council show the ensuite bedrooms are arranged in self-contained group living wings of ten residents, each with dedicated dayroom/dining spaces.
Communal facilities include a cinema, hair salon and separate barber, kids’ play area and an arts and crafts room.
In a first for Simply UK, there will also be a facility for resident’s family to stay overnight when necessary.
The home will meanwhile have a landscaped setting providing the desired external space contributory to the wellbeing of both residents and staff alike.
In a move towards carbon neutrality, Simply UK will employ modern methods of construction to reduce waste during construction along with the utilisation of low energy technologies in the home.
The St Andrews development is slated to be open to first residents in autumn 2023.
“This will be the best in class home on offer in the region. It exemplifies the very best standards and facilities within the sector and will be the jewel in our crown,” said land director Neil Dobbie.
“We have taken everything we have learned about care, looked at the very best on offer and encapsulated our findings into this building, he added.
In a related development, Simply UK has kicked off construction of a 69-bed care home at Preston Marina in Lancashire.
Like the St Andrews facility, Preston Marina will be operated by Simply UK’s house brand Morar Living.
In a first for the group, a 16-bed separate assisted living complex will also be built within the site due to be open in spring 2023.
Elsewhere, has acquired a site in Exeter to build a 72-bed care home on Topsham Road.
“We’re delighted to announce work has now started on this exciting project, an integral part of the of the re-development of the site which also incorporates assisted living and main stream housing developments,” said Dobbie.
“The home will be operated by in house brand Morar UK and represents our first venture in the south-west. We believe it will offer the very best living conditions within the city and we look forward to welcoming our first residents in the spring of 2023.”
