Care home construction specialist Savista Developments has acquired a two-acre site in the Berkshire village of Sonning for a new 72-bed development.
Savista, a sister company of care provider Hallmark Care Homes, will be responsible for planning, design, construction and interior fit-out of the £20m project.
In the coming weeks, Savista will invite the local community for feedback on proposals for the development ahead of the submission of a planning application.
The proposed scheme will draw on the latest technology in the sector and will comprise an array of extensive communal facilities, said Savista.
Innovations across its existing care homes include night-time monitoring solutions designed to reduce falls and night-time disturbances, and circadian lighting systems which help maintain sleep schedules, especially important for residents living with dementia.
“Our proposed development will provide an exceptional, high-quality place for local people to live; we’ll deliver much-needed care beds to the community as well as modern, communal spaces and specialist facilities,” said Savista Developments chief executive Kevin Shaw.
“Demand for new care homes continues to rise and we are very pleased to acquire this site in Sonning to meet the growing demand for specialist care in the area,” he added.
