The Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society’s Banstead-based nursing care home, Belvedere House, has welcomed a new deputy clinical manager to its award-winning maritime care team.
Alice Mitroi joined Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society nine months ago as a staff nurse, before being appointed as deputy clinical manager earlier this month.
As part of her new role, Alice will work alongside the specialist care team to continue delivering a high standard of service and care for all 68 residents at the Belvedere House home in Surrey. The role also includes providing clinical supervision to registered nurses– a key focus for Royal Alfred.
Alice graduated from the University of Bucharest in 2015 with a Master’s degree in Health and Social Care, to sit alongside her baccalaureate in general nursing, and has worked in the care industry since the age of 19; bringing years of experience with her to the Society.
Speaking of her passion towards the home, Alice said her favourite part about the job was being part of a big family. She says: “The Royal Alfred team consists of exceptionally caring and professional people; the dedication they have to the residents is incomparable and I am excited to move into this role. I have cared for various age ranges throughout my career but feel that working with the elderly is the most enjoyable and rewarding. I love getting to know the residents and hearing their stories and at Royal Alfred they have a lot of them to share.
“I look forward to ensuring everyone is involved with providing the best possible care to our residents. Their care is our main priority and I hope to work closely with their families and carers to ensure we can continue to provide bespoke care to each resident in the home.”
Commander Brian Boxall-Hunt, chief executive of the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society, says: “We are very fortunate to have somebody like Alice join our team. With a diploma in dementia care, among her other qualifications, she will be an asset to our home, especially in our dedicated dementia annexe. It is always gratifying to see members of the team move up through the home.”
Boasting a team of more than 100 members of staff and volunteers, the Royal Alfred Seafarers Society’s Belvedere House is one of only three care homes in the UK dedicated to the maritime industry.
