Spectrum Care hosts Autumn Conference

Buying consortium Spectrum Care recently held its Autumn Conference and Networking event to discuss the ongoing challenges facing care operators.

In partnership with with Barclays and Bevan Brittan LLP, the event focused on how providers can navigate the evolving regulatory environment, manage financial pressures, and ensure they are prepared for future changes.

In particular, the conference addressed the uncertainty surrounding CQC inspections, with many operators expressing concerns over the impact of fluctuating regulatory expectations. Recent National Insurance increases were also raised as a significant challenge, with operators concerned with the balance between rising operational costs and maintaining quality care for service users.

A panel discussion chaired by Siwan Griffiths from Bevan Brittan explored the latest regulatory updates and practical advice, sharing perspectives from Sanjay Dhrona of The Outstanding Society, Debbie Harris of Autumna, and Rebecca Garnett-Buchma, representing Tony Thiru of Fulcrum Care Consulting.

As well as opening the event, Steve Fergus, head of healthcare at Barclays, chaired a session on ESG where Shaleeza Hasham of CHD Living and Emma Glynn of JLL examined the growing importance of environmental, social, and governance initiatives, and their practical applications within the care sector.

Steve Fergus said: “This event was an excellent opportunity to bring key stakeholders together to discuss the most pressing issues affecting the care sector. The combination of CQC uncertainty and National Insurance increases is putting immense pressure on care providers. We must continue these conversations to ensure operators have the resources and support they need to thrive in these challenging times. The turnout and engagement were fantastic, highlighting just how important it is for the sector to work collaboratively.”
