Berkley Care Group has launched a new initiative to bring dementia-friendly barbering to its care homes.
Berkley Care Group has partnered with Dementia Friendly Barbers. Specially trained to support those living with dementia, the barbers deliver tailored sessions that prioritise dignity, patience, and emotional comfort, transforming routine grooming into a meaningful experience rooted in personal connection.
The collaboration aims to promote wellbeing and confidence for residents while preserving the small rituals that often carry deep emotional significance, especially for individuals with memory loss.
At the heart of Dementia Friendly Barbers’ service is a deep understanding of how personal care contributes to quality of life. Their team is trained to adapt every appointment, adjusting pace, environment, and conversation to create a calm, respectful atmosphere where residents feel safe, seen, and supported.
Tom Roberts, founder of Dementia Friendly Barbers, said: “Joining forces with Berkley Care Group marks a proud and meaningful step forward for us. We know how powerful familiar rituals like a simple haircut can be, especially for those living with dementia.
“This collaboration is about more than barbering, it’s about creating calm, sparking memories, and making people feel truly seen. We’re thrilled to be bringing our work into every Berkley home and to be part of a care culture that values identity, connection, and the little moments that make a big difference.”
Kathryn Clayton, sales and marketing director at Berkley Care Group, said: "We are absolutely delighted to officially welcome Dementia Friendly Barbers into every Berkley home. Their unique approach to care aligns perfectly with our belief that exceptional care goes far beyond clinical delivery: it’s about trust, respect, and the small moments that help people feel like themselves.
“The team bring an extraordinary level of warmth and expertise to their work, and we’ve already seen the smiles and stories that a single haircut can unlock. We’re excited to get started and look forward to what we’ll build together in the months ahead.”
