Millennium Care has held a public consultation on its plans to build a £2m intergenerational nursery at its Standish Care Community in Wigan.
The project aims to create a thriving hub for intergenerational engagement, providing exceptional childcare for staff, residents’ families, and the wider Standish community.
The 40-place The Nest Nursery, designed in a forest school-style, will be a central feature of the Standish Care Village. It will offer a secure outdoor space, providing opportunities for children to connect with the environment and learn through play.
Millennium Care invited the local community to learn more about the project and share their views on the plans. Local residents expressed enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the need for additional childcare provision in the area to meet the growing demand from new housing estates and a rising population.
The next step is to submit for planning permission from the local authority.
Stacey Astin, group regional manager at Millennium Care, said: “If approved, The Nest Nursery will provide countless benefits to both children and adults within the Standish Care Village crowning what will be a unique site in the North West. Utilising its amazing location the nursery will provide an amazing educational experience while delivering consistently outstanding intergenerational activities.”
