Reading care home The Devonshire, part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group, has celebrated its recent refurbishment with a special open day.
Residents and staff, friends and family, and members of the wider Reading community gathered in August to enjoy food prepared by the home’s hospitality team, live music, and a raffle.
Guests enjoyed activities including fairground games and a choir performance, as well as care home tours to explore the refurbished spaces.
The refurbishment included updated soft and hard furnishings, redecorating throughout, and improvements to activity rooms and bedrooms. It formed part of the Maria Mallaband Care Group’s ongoing investment programme.
Home manager, Elizabeth Gondo, said: “We’re so pleased that we had the opportunity to open our doors to families, friends, and the wider Reading community. It was a great opportunity for everyone to experience the new space first-hand and see the difference it’s already made to the lives of those who live with us.
“The open day allowed us to make great use of some of the newly refurbished areas, such as our dining area, where people had the chance to connect and enjoy our hospitality in comfort.”
