Architects Carless + Adams have been granted planning approvals for a care home design in Devon and an apartment project in Kent.
The first approval was for variation of an approval granted in 2018 for a 68-bed care home in South Hams, Devon. Variation of the original approval was sought to adapt the the design to allow for potential contagious illness considerations, and to provide access routes both within the building and also for external suppliers seeking to access the home. The variation also allowed Carless + Adams to incorporate larger balconies and ground floor terraces into the design.
The second approval was for a 69 apartment care facility with integrated healthcare in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. The apartments incorporate an additional bedroom for a carer, allowing a high level of care to be provided so it be required.
Melissa Magee, managing director and architect at Carless + Adams, said: “These approvals show recognition for the demand of care in the UK and ensuring that people have the opportunity to move into appropriate right sized home environments. We couldn’t be prouder to be part of driving this change.”
