Engelberg care home in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, has been sold to boutique care provider Ashberry Healthcare.
The ‘Good’ rated, 34-bedroom care home – which is part purpose-built and part conversion – was previously owned by MHA, and was brought to market as part of a strategic divestment.
Following a confidential sales process with James Buist-Brealey at Christie & Co, Engelberg has been purchased by Ashberry Healthcare, a boutique care provider focused on small community living.
MHA chief executive Sam Monaghan said: “We are delighted that Engelberg care home will pass into the hands of Ashberry Healthcare, where we know residents and the team which cares for them will be well looked after.”
Ashberry Healthcare chief executive Nigel Denny commented: “Engelberg and its care team have a great reputation and have built strong connections with residents and the local community. We are looking forward to building on this with a focus on our community-centric, small-group living model that offers something different to the local market for those individuals seeking the camaraderie, empowerment, and independence that a smaller home can offer.
“We’re looking forward to meeting everyone connected to Engelberg and hope this is the first of several acquisitions over the coming years as we continue to build our portfolio. We also want to thank our financing partner, Barclays Bank, who have been tremendously supportive of our development plan.”
James Buist-Brealey, senior business agent – care at Christie & Co, added: “It is a pleasure to confirm the sale of Engelberg care home. The sale highlights the continued demand within the sector generally and within the West Midlands. It was a pleasure to be involved in this transaction on behalf of our clients, and I wish the best of luck to Ashberry Healthcare.”
