Leading Nottinghamshire care group Church Farm Care has been awarded the Level 2 Disability Confident Employer status for all five homes within its group.
This milestone follows three years during which the homes within the group were Disability Confident Committed, and the progression highlights the organisation’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and attracting, recruiting, retaining, and developing disabled employees across its entire workforce.
As a Disability Confident Employer, Church Farm Care has demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting equal opportunities for people with disabilities. This includes a range of actions that ensure the recruitment process is accessible, with efforts such as actively encouraging disabled candidates to apply for roles, making adjustments to interview processes, and offering disability equality awareness training to all employees. In addition, the company offers a variety of supportive measures for its employees, such as wellbeing sessions with an in-house advocate, ensuring all team members have the resources they need to thrive in their roles.
Lucy Atkinson, co-founder and director of Church Farm Care, said: “We are absolutely delighted to achieve this status, not just for our employees but for the people we care for,” said. “This award demonstrates our ongoing commitment to support employees who may face additional challenges and ensure they have the tools to succeed in their careers. It also reinforces our commitment to inclusive recruitment, making it clear to disabled candidates that we welcome them into our workforce.
“We’ve seen the real-world impact of our efforts. Our commitment to inclusivity has allowed us to retain staff who have been diagnosed with health conditions or who have returned after long-term absences. For us, the value of this award is in the stories of our people – the team members who have found stability and development with us.”
