Signature Senior Lifestyle has marked the official opening of Signature at Highgate, its flagship £50m care home in Highgate, North London.
Cutting the ribbon was Signature at Highgate’s ‘founding resident ’Mary Sumeray, who has lived in the Highgate area for 50 years.
Signature at Highgate is understood to be the most expensive care home ever built in the UK, representing a £50 million investment in construction and interior design and built using state-of-the-art materials, sustainable technology, and smart building systems.
The home boasts 96 apartments and facilities including a café, cocktail bar, private dining rooms, art-deco cinema, and hair salon. It will also offer a dining experience curated by MasterChef Winner Jane Devonshire. Outdoor spaces include a secluded garden for residents living with dementia, communal terraces, water features, and circular walking paths.
The Dementia Community at Signature at Highgate has been equipped with independently reviewed Safety Monitoring technology, as part of Signature’s commitment to roll out the technology to all homes following a successful pilot earlier in the year.
The opening of Signature at Highgate also created 50 new jobs in the local community, spanning care, nursing, hospitality, and administration – as well as a dedicated mixologist and chauffeur.
Signature at Highgate general manager Vicki Read said: "After all the hard work to get to this stage, I was so pleased to be able to finally open our doors and welcome our first residents.
"It is a real privilege to be entrusted with Signature at Highgate, which is without a doubt one of the most luxurious care homes in the UK. My team and I truly believe in providing exceptional care, enabling our residents to be who they are, enjoy life, make friendships remain active, and be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. We can’t wait to get to meet more of the local community and to play a full and active role in everything Highgate has to offer.”
Signature Senior Lifestyle chief executive Kay Cox commented: “At Signature, we believe in fostering independence for as long as possible, and we’ll always treat all our residents and their families with the care and consideration they need.
