Mercian Developments deliver luxury Staffordshire scheme for Borough Care

Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has announced the sale of a 2.8-acre Staffordshire development site with consent for a 76-bed care home.

Located close to the market town of Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, the scheme has been delivered by Mercian Developments, part of the Mercian Group, which successfully submitted planning application for the construction of the care home and nine affordable homes.

The new home will be not-for-profit provider Borough Care’s third in Staffordshire, as the provider seeks to expand its portfolio in the West Midlands. It is anticipated that construction will be completed in Q2/2025.

Luke Brittain, land director of Mercian Developments, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have completed what has been an extremely challenging process due to the significant headwinds we’ve had to face in respect of both planning and the economy. Mercian had real confidence in the suitability of this site for the care sector and, thankfully, everyone’s perseverance has contributed to a successful conclusion. We are now excited to commence building what will be a fabulous new home for Borough Care and the surrounding communities.”

Borough Care CEO Dr Mark Ward commented: “Everyone at Borough Care is thrilled to finally get this project to the start line. It’s been a hugely challenging environment but through great partnerships and a bit of doggedness, we can finally begin to deliver our vision of modern, person-centred care, providing ‘Life in Colour’ for the amazing communities in Uttoxeter and the surrounding areas.”
