Leading health and social care sector food supplier apetito has won three awards at the British Frozen Food Federation Awards.
In the Best New Specialist Meal Product category, apetito won the Gold Award for its Level 4 Purée Petite Spaghetti Bolognaise, a dish designed specifically to enable people with swallowing difficulties to enjoy one of Britain’s favourite dishes.
apetito also took home the Bronze Award in the same category for its energy-dense Level 5 Minced Sticky Toffee Pudding, designed by apetito’s chefs and dietitians for people with dysphagia, who often struggle to get the necessary amount of nutrients and calories.
Also, apetito’s head of product and systems development Tim Charles won the award for Foodservice Innovation Product of the Year for apetito’s Chicken Tikka Finger Food Bites.
The dementia-friendly Finger Food Bites range was developed so that each ‘Bite’ encapsulates all the flavours of a traditional dish, as well as providing a source of protein, a portion of carbohydrates, and a minimum 80g portion of vegetables per portion.
Ian Stone, chief commercial officer of apetito and president and chair of the British Frozen Food Federation said: “These awards honour the finest frozen food products across the industry, and we’re delighted to be among them as competition is always stiff.
“We pride ourselves on making a real difference to the lives of elderly and vulnerable people and I’m delighted that apetito’s dedication to producing innovative, world-leading specialist nutrition products has been recognised.”
