Vegetarian for Life is offering its top five tips for care homes looking to show off their catering prowess this Veganuary.
VfL is a UK charity working on behalf of older vegans and vegetarians. Since there are only two fully vegetarian care homes in the UK, one of VfL’s goals is improve the standard of vegan and vegetarian catering in all care homes. To that end, VfL is striving towards a vision where at least one in every six UK care homes are members of its UK List - a geographical listing of organisations and care homes that make a special effort to cater for vegetarians and vegans - and one in every 100 will be VfL accredited.
With more and more older adults following a vegan or vegetarian diet, it is becoming increasingly important that care establishments demonstrate an ability and a willingness to cater for them. By providing an exciting menu of tasty and nutritious dishes, care homes can not only provide reassurance for the vegans that they currently care for but also better appeal to prospective vegan residents, too.
