R & G Quality Care has purchased Millbrook House care home in Child Okeford, Dorset, following the current owner’s decision to retire.
The purchase expands R & G Quality Care’s portfolio to three care homes. It currently owns two other homes in the area – The Old Rectory in Stalbridge, and Bramley House in Mere.
Millbrook House is a ‘Good’ rated, Grade II Listed residential care home set in two acres of gardens at the foot of Hambledon Hill in Child Okeford. Registered for 33 residents, the home was recently commended by the Gold Standards Framework. It has been owned by Christine Wood since 1997 and was brought to market to allow her to retire from the sector.
Christine Wood said: “It has been a pleasure owning and operating Millbrook House over the last 25 years, and I am proud of the work we have done at the home over this period. I am sad to be leaving, but felt it was the right time to pass the business onto a new owner who will be able to continue to offer the high standard of care provided by the staff.”
Richard Wagner, director at R & G Quality Care Ltd, commented: “Millbrook House is a lovely home in a tranquil area, and we are thrilled to have been able to purchase this business. As a local care home owner who lives nearby, I look forward to building on the home’s already good name and increasing its strong links with the local community.”
Charles Phillips, director of healthcare at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, added: “Having sold the business to Christine back in 1997, it was a pleasure acting for her in the confidential sale of the home, which was done very discreetly, as per her wishes. I felt Richard would be the ideal buyer for Millbrook House as he is a local resident who has two other care homes nearby. This is the third home we have sold to him, and we are confident that he will be very successful. We wish both Christine and Richard all the best with their future plans.
“There is strong demand for a range of care home types in the South West. Country house style boutique homes such as Millbrook House are sought after by many applicants, especially existing local providers and regional operators.”
