Grove Court in Suffolk has been awarded a national Gold Standards Framework (GSF) Quality Hallmark Award for its delivery of end-of-life care during the pandemic.
The award will be presented at the GSF Awards on 5 May, which recognise health and social care providers delivering quality care in the final year of life.
One of luxury care provider Elizabeth Finn Homes’ nine residential settings, Grove Court in Woodbridge is a purpose-built, 61-bed home set in 15 acres of landscaped grounds.
In total, forty-two care homes, hospitals, and other services will receive the GSF quality hallmark at May’s virtual ceremony. The GSF Centre provides expert training for frontline staff in social care and health to enable them to achieve a ‘gold standard’ of care.
Prior to the pandemic, the GSF Centre provided face-to-face workshops, but moved online to adhere to COVID regulations. The training has supported families and patients to discuss end-of-life care planning.
Emily Tooke, clinical care manager at Grove Court, said: “We have done it again! I am so immensely proud of all of our staff for working together to deliver the highest standard of end-of-life care. But it isn’t just about the care, it is so much more than that. From providing relaxing and comfortable accommodation and beautifully landscaped gardens to restaurant style dining and service excellence. Throughout the coronavirus struggle, these extra touches provided the positivity we all needed.”
Julie Armstrong-Wilson, lead nurse for GSF, commented: “Congratulations to all twelve organisations that have successfully achieved accreditation and reaccreditation. The last two years have posed some incredible challenges to the health and social care workforce, so we are very proud of all of our successful applicants that took the time to submit their portfolios of evidence. There has never been a more important time to ensure we deliver quality end of life care, well done to you all!”
