Runwood Homes, which provides residential, dementia, and nursing care across over sixty homes and centres, has spent the past month encouraging residents to take part in activities that help to protect and cherish the world around them.
The provider’s Dignity Campaign takes on a different theme each month, the aim being to encourage residents to take part in activities that are meaningful, that enhance a sense of belonging and purpose, and which create strong bonds and relationships between residents and staff.
The theme for March, ‘The environment – we are all responsible’, focused on how homes can help to protect and cherish the world around them. This included recycling projects, garden planting to attract and enhance wildlife, and litter picking.
Examples of activities from across Runwood’s homes include residents at Windmill House, in Wymondham, Norfolk, cleaning up their grounds, and residents at Heron Court, in Brentwood, Essex, enhancing their garden so that it attracts birds and butterflies.
Meanwhile, residents and staff at Liberty House, Doncaster, created a recycling point at their home, encouraging the local community to take part by dropping off any unwanted items. Not only did this project help protect the environment, but for every tonne of recycling collected, but the charity Cash for Kids will also receive £400 to help continue their support for disadvantaged children.
