The long-established Cottage Nursing Home in Mold, North Wales, has come to the market courtesy of Christie & Co with an asking price of £1,250,000.
When the home’s operating company went into administration in September 2021, Cottage Nursing Home had no choice but to close its doors the following February.
The building was originally a school but traded successfully as a care home for 30 years, housing over 50 residents. Christie describes the home as a “beautiful period property [which] has been extended on numerous occasions, the most recent including a wing of 24 bedrooms which was completed just three years ago.”
Research conducted by Christie suggests that if a buyer wished to continue operating a care home on the site, they would find a local area with an ageing population in need of care home spaces, which are currently under-supplied in the town.
Christie’s James Knight and Rob Kinsman said: “The former Cottage Nursing Home offers an exciting opportunity for experienced providers to acquire a vacant care home of some considerable scale. Subject to the necessary consents we believe there is clear scope to re-open the care home and once again establish the Cottage as a key social care facility in the community.”
