Is it curtains for uncomfortable rooms?

With energy bills skyrocketing, managing the temperature of a home in a cost-efficient manner has never been more important.

Using the correct window covering has a significant role to play in reducing a care home’s energy bills and keeping rooms comfortable for residents and staff alike.

Here, Edward Simon of Direct Fabrics looks at what care homes can do to improve heating efficiency.

Rooms are most most likely to be block / brick and plaster with at least one window. Everything in a room has a thermal rating in a U value, with some new double glazing having a U value as low as 1.9, but most are around 2.9. Heat is both gained through the window from the sun and lost in thermal transfer out of the window in winter.
