How to prepare for compulsory vaccination

The introduction of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 has caused a lot of controversy among care sector employers and their workers, but what exactly do these regulations mean?

With effect from 11 November, anyone entering a care home will be required to be double vaccinated, and prove they are, before doing so.

This applies to all employees, workers, contractors or other visiting personnel - with the exception of friends and family of the residents of the care home - and will be enforced by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

As it stands, a large number of care home workers remain unvaccinated, despite evidence that COVID vaccines are safe and effective.

Some workers are still on the fence and have some reservations, while others are outright refusing – one study showed one in four care home workers disagree with mandatory vaccination.
