Barchester on track for Devon home summer opening
Barchester Healthcare’s under-construction Raleigh Manor dementia care home in Exmouth is on track to open this summer after it reached the topping out stage of the build.
When completed by contractor McGoff Construction, the Devon care home will have the facilities to look after 75 residents.
Barchester Healthcare said residents Raleigh Manor will enjoy a ‘life enrichment programme’ that includes a mixture of activities old and new.
“Continuing to enjoy the things they love doing can be a concern for some residents going into care, so enabling this is key to ensuring a sense of continuity and joy,” the company said.
Residents with dementia will also be introduced to the ‘memory lane community’, an easy-to-navigate sensory environment.
Food can also be a source of comfort and Raleigh Manor’s staff will create seasonal menus that take into account residents’ preferences.
In addition, Raleigh Manor will incorporates a life skills kitchen to maintain as much independence as possible a multi-sensory projector for playing games and encouraging social interaction.
"Our continually evolving approach to dementia care is developed through the latest research and our own expertise gained over the past 25 years, ensuring residents live a fulfilled, enriched and comfortable life,” said Barchester.
