Care UK will kick off construction of a 75-bed care home on the northern outskirts of Cardiff this autumn after receiving the green light from authorities.
Cardiff Council granted consent for a three-storey development consisting of 27 bedrooms on both ground and first floor levels, with a further 21 on the second floor, in the west Pontprennau area.
All bedrooms at ground floor benefit from a patio leading onto the garden space, providing an external amenity space for residents. Each of the 75 ensuite bedrooms will have views over one of the communal gardens.
On the ground floor, facilities such as hairdressers, café and a cinema are incorporated into the front of house area. There will be 24-hour on-site nursing care.
Additional facilities include assisted bathrooms, lounges, dining rooms and flexible day rooms on all floors.
"We are delighted to have received planning permission to deliver this home in Cardiff,” said Care UK head of acquisitions David Gannon.
"As well as creating over 100 new jobs we are looking forward to working with, and being part of, the local community in Cardiff, building strong links with local schools and voluntary groups that benefit both residents in our home and those living locally,” he added.
