Designing for dementia: it’s all about perspective

Care Home Interiors managing director Kerry Southern-Reason explains why sophistication in design is not just for those deemed as having normal cognitive function.

'To make a real difference and give people the respect and space they deserve as adults who have lived a lot of life' - that is a motto the design team at Care Home Interiors live and work to as we extol the virtues of their tried and tested practical-based designed interiors for people with dementia.

We make no assumptions when designing for dementia. Individuals who live in our designed interiors deserve to take delight in the space they live in, as do all of us.

I find it curious that the vast majority of design for dementia seems to assume the end-user has lost control of their faculties, assuming they have lost their identity as adults.
