Social care workers recognised in Queen's birthday honours

Social care workers management across the UK have been celebrated for their efforts during the Covid-19 epidemic in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

From the 1,495 people receiving honours across the UK, 14 per cent are health and social care workers.

Care home managers to be recognised include Sandra Payne (pictured), director of nursing and care homes at Brunelcare Bristol, who receives an MBE.

Other recipients of an MBE for Covid-19 duty include Clare Thomas, home manager of Ilford Park Polish home in Brixham in Devon.

In addition, there are several Medallists of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) to recognise social care worker efforts during Covid-19.

They include Arie Darbandi, resident experience manager of Bupa Care’s Arbrook House in Chessington in Surrey; Ahmud Domah, general manager of Hill House care home in Watford; and Samantha Gallagher, home manager of Brandon Park in King's Lynn, Norfolk.

Meanwhile, CareTech founder Farouq Sheikh has been awarded a OBE for services to specialist social care.

Elsewhere, Wellbeing Teams founder and chief executive Helen Sanderson has been recognised with an MBE.
