UK technology-enabled home care provider Cera Care has acquired Mears Care Scotland in a multi-million pound deal.
The deal will see Mears Group’s domiciliary care arm in Scotland integrated into Cera Care with immediate effect, adding more than 1,000 staff and 12 dedicated offices.
Cera is a technology-enabled home care provider using digital and data analytics to improve elderly care services.
The company has built machine learning algorithms for elderly care which allow it to predict health deteriorations before they occur.
“We had set ourselves the aim of establishing a national footprint in Scotland earlier this year, and this acquisition marks a huge achievement for everyone at Cera Care,” said financial director Ranpreet Grewal.
“The infrastructure and talent we have been able to bring in as a result of this deal provides us with an ideal platform from which to continue our growth in Scotland and the rest of the UK,” he added.
As a result of the acquisition, Cera Care will also be creating 500 new jobs in Scotland – the vast majority of which will be care roles.
Cera Care is recruiting for these roles with a particular focus on Dunoon, Coatbridge, East Kilbride, Prestwick, Ellon, Perth, Glasgow, Alloa, Stirling, Clackmannanshire, Bathgate, Dalkeith and North Berwick.
In a related development, the UK’s largest homecare provider - City & County Healthcare Group – has acquired Leicestershire-based Total Community Care (TCC).
TCC, established in 2006, provides bespoke care teams for people living with spinal injuries and neurological conditions in the clients’ own home
