Avery on song with Derby care home plans

Avery Healthcare has won the right to develop a 63-bed care home on the outskirts of Derby following approval from Derbyshire City Council.

The Northampton-based care provider will build a three-story home in the village of Littleover, located approximately two miles to the south-west of central Derby.

Avery will employ specialist design to assist with both the living experience and care of the residents.

The proposed home is designed to offer a dementia friendly environment. The company said it wants to create a “light, bright, spacious and homely” development with easy access to amenities including dining, lounges, bistro, cinema and hairdresser.

All ground floor amenity areas and bedrooms will have direct access to external landscaped areas. The 63 individual bedrooms will each have accessible ensuite bathrooms.

The outdoor areas meanwhile will be an attractive setting for residents as well as providing a better quality of life and wellbeing, Avery said.

The care provider expects the development will create a total of 80 jobs, 40 full-time and 40 part-time.
