Crown Care takes throne with York home plans approval

Newcastle provider Crown Care has been given the green light to redevelop the Moorlands care home in the outskirts of York.

City of York Council approved plans to demolish the existing 68-bed facility and replace it with a 62-bed development.

The home in the village of Strensall, around seven miles north-east of York city centre, will feature bedrooms are a minimum of 19 square metres with full ensuite facilities.

Both floors will have its own dining room and a choice of lounge spaces.

Other communal facilities will include cafe-bar, snug and shop, cinema facility, hair salon, and courtyard garden.

“Our new home provides multiple communal spaces, access to external areas and gardens, and the importance of this outdoor amenity cannot be overstated,” said Crown Care.

The application by Crown Care follows plans for Moorlands originally submitted in 2018, which were later withdrawn.

The consented scheme was revised, with reduced size and height of the building to mitigate visual impact concerns.
