Second time’s the charm for New Care Cheshire plans

Cheshire provider New Care has won the right to build a 60-bed care home in Wilmslow in its home county on appeal.

Planning inspectors approved the development after the three-storey scheme was twice refused by Cheshire East Council.

The plans were turned down by the council’s planning committee for the second time in January 2020, having refused plans for a slightly larger development on the site that was dismissed on appeal in October 2019.

New Care will demolish two four-bed houses in large plots at Handforth Road and replace them with the new care home.

The Altrincham-based care provider recently completed the Bramhall Manor (pictured) property in Stockport.

The 71 beds at the new care home have been used to provide additional capacity to the local Stepping Hill hospital for discharged patients who require rehabilitation before returning home.
