Care UK has started construction of a multi-million pound care home in Shrewsbury that will provide full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 80 older people.
The two-storey home, expected to welcome residents from February, will include communal facilities including cinema, café and hair salon.
The layout of the building will be configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
Outdoor space will feature sensory gardens, water features and seating to give residents the opportunity to spend quality time outside.
“At Care UK, we take great pride in the build quality, layout and design of each individual home, as these factors can greatly impact the everyday experiences of those living in a care environment,” said development project manager Peter Griffiths.
Care sector specialist contractor Castleoak is tackling construction of the home, its 23rd with Care UK.
The turf-cutting at the Shrewbury home, which will be named at a later stage with the involvement of the local community, marks the seventh Care UK project to be under construction.
The seven sites, located in Basingstoke, Chichester, Haywards Heath and elsewhere, will add 500 new places for Care UK residents.
