Care UK is preparing to open its completed 68-bed care home in Shinfield near Reading.
The London provider is holding open days on 24-25 July to give local people the opportunity to take a closer look at the new care home before it opens to residents next month.
The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
Communal facilities include café, a hair and beauty salon, a bar and a cinema, plus lounges and activity rooms.
Each of the 68 bedrooms has an ensuite wetroom, 24-hour nurse call system and flatscreen TV. Some rooms will have direct garden access.
Parsons Grange, named after Louisa Parsons, a nurse trained by Florence Nightingale who lived in Shinfield, will offer dementia, palliative and respite care to residents aged 65 and over.
Construction of the care home was completed in May.
“It’s been a challenging few months for the community, but I know the team at Parsons Grange is looking forward to welcoming the first residents to the home next month,” said home manager Ruth Halls.
“We’ve taken all the necessary steps to ensure our open days will be as safe as possible, by offering appointments, and allowing plenty of space between booking slots so the home can be cleaned throughout the day and following the social distancing guidelines,” she added.
