Care home operator New Care has acquired a one-acre site near Salford with a view to building a consented 71-bed facility.
The Cheshire provider will develop a three-storey care home in Worsley with an estimated value of £15m.
With planning consent granted, New Care said it will soon demolish the pub on the site before starting construction of the care home offering residential, nursing and specialist dementia care.
Facilities will include furnished bedrooms with ensuite wetrooms, communal lounges, dining rooms, spa assisted bathrooms, hair salon, nail bar, landscaped gardens and a first-floor terrace.
“The care home will provide the highest standards of care in a comfortable, safe and stylish home-from-home environment, and will undoubtedly help address the ever increasing shortage of beds in the area as well as provide an invaluable support framework for the local NHS,” said New Care chief executive Chris McGoff.
New Care worked with Manchester-based law firm Beyond Corporate on the land acquisition transaction.
James Flynn, head of Beyond Corporate’s real estate division, said: “This deal is our second with New Care that has been completed under lockdown, and is testament to the power of business continuity during what are undoubtedly challenging circumstances..”
He added: “To close any deal at the moment is difficult, to complete a real estate development facility is a credit to everyone involved.”
