Legal & General’s later living business Inspired Villages has won planning permissions for three developments in Bedfordshire, Kent and North Yorkshire.
The largest is the £60m Turvey scheme in Bedfordshire (pictured), which will deliver 130 homes for over-65s featuring communal facilities for residents and the local community.
The facilities include a restaurant, cafe, library, landscaped grounds and a wellness centre consisting of a fitness studio, gym and jacuzzi pool.
In Kent, meanwhile, Inspired Villages will build a second phase at the seven-acre Ledian Gardens scheme in Leeds to provide an additional 50 apartments.
Main contractor Kier began construction on phase one of the development earlier this year, which will see 66 apartments and assisted living units, as well as the village centre with communal facilities open next year.
Once complete, Ledian Gardens will have 116 age-appropriate homes, as well as a restaurant, cafe, wellness centre - comprising a swimming pool, fitness studio and gym - library and crafts room available to the local community.
The gross development value of the completed Ledian Gardens scheme is £60m, Inspired Villages said.
The developer meanwhile has secured consent to build 154 homes using modular construction at a site in Selby, North Yorkshire.
“Our retirement village model focuses on holistic wellbeing and creating supportive communities that help over 65s live healthier, more independent lives. This has never been more important than in these challenging times with an NHS and social care system under even more severe strain,” said Inspired Villages chief executive Jamie Bunce.
“Receiving the go ahead to create more specialist homes for this age group is welcome news and a testament to the health benefits our villages offer,” he added.
