A Scottish council has granted planning permission for a new 80-bed care home as part of a retirement residential community.
East Renfrewshire Council gave the nod to developer Newton Mearns Project’s plans to build the Netherplace Works development on the site of a former dye factory to the south of Glasgow.
In addition to a two-storey care home, the development include 214 flats and 38 houses.
Facilities include a so-called village centre to accommodate a variety of leisure and recreational uses including a fitness suite and counter current pools.
Other facilities include a clinic, restaurant, bar, nursery, shop, meeting rooms, management offices, and library.
The care home, expected to be approximately 8.4 metres high, represents the fourth phase of development after construction of access road, the village centre and outlying residential areas.
The Netherplace Works facility will be open to those aged 55 and above.
The development is expected to take three years to complete.
