Mike Parsons, Dormy Care Communities board member, has been honoured in the non-executive director category at the HealthInvestor Power Fifty Awards 2019.
According to HealthInvestor, the category nominees “... have shown themselves to be dynamic by being the perfect foil to the executive teams and an invaluable font of knowledge”.
Parson founded Barchester Healthcare, which grew to be a large estate of over 200 care homes, in 1992 and has been on the board of Dormy Care since its inception in 2017.
He says: “Our residents and their families are hugely supportive of Dormy because they know the team delivers in terms of compassionate care and civilised surroundings. The team, led by Helen, is mutually supportive and highly skilled; hence the phrase 'Our family caring for your family'.
“My role is to make sure the team have the resources and freedom to deliver that brilliance.”
Parsons was also praised by other Power Fifty members for his “... excellent knowledge and foresight into the sector”.
He is also well known for his project with Sir Richard Branson, which offers five under-privileged South African school pupils the chance to attend the prestigious Stowe School each year.
Helen Davies-Parsons, CEO of Dormy Care Communities, adds: “I am absolutely thrilled that Mike has been recognised with this award. His support to Dormy Care Communities is fantastic and we value his experience and commitment to our company.”
Dormy Care’s four care homes are located in Hereford, Abergavenny, Hampshire and Dorset. Its Abergavenny home, Foxhunters, was the winner of the Knight Frank Luxury Care Home Awards in October 2019.
