A care home in Leicestershire has been rated 'outstanding', following an unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
CQC inspected Aylesham Court Care Home in Leicester Forest East in August 2019. The service supports up to 60 older people, including people living with dementia.
Aylesham Court was last inspected in 2017, when it was rated good overall.
August’s inspection found that people benefitted from safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care.
Deanna Westwood, CQC interim head of inspection for adult social care in the central region, says: “Our inspection team was very impressed by the level of care and support offered at Aylesham Court Care Home.
“People received individualised care that enhanced their personal preferences while supporting their specific needs. This included enabling people to celebrate their cultural and social values as well as providing opportunities for people to participate in fulfilling activities. One person was offered food that was part of their heritage and other people were supported to practice their religious beliefs. All this improved people’s wellbeing.
“The service valued meaningful social activity. People were supported to sing in a choir which met at the home, enjoy activities such as line dancing and join trips out to destinations including Bradgate Park. During our visit, people were invited to a pampering session, a quiz, and a cheese and wine session. These activities reduced the possibility of social isolation.
“Staff shared a vision and values that gave people the best possible quality of life, regardless of their needs or ability. They were motivated and proud to work for the organisation. Leaders worked hard to listen to people and staff, acting upon their input to shape the future of the service. This gave people’s relatives confidence that their loved one’s needs were being met by committed staff offering high quality support.
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated outstanding.”
