Care sector ball gains support

The 2019 Care Sector Ball looks set to raise its target £250,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society and The Care Workers Charity, with over 50 different care sector organisations now signed up to support the annual event.

Over 500 people will attend the glittering fundraising event in The Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday 28 September.

Attendees who have already confirmed include CareTech and CareTech Foundation, Coate Water Care, Welltower, Lawrence Baker, Majesticare and ihl uk.

The special event kick-started last year by Hallmark Care Homes’ chair and chair of Care England Avnish Goyal (pictured), will be hosted by MC and original Stig Perry McCarthy and will this year feature a silent auction and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Jonny Gould.

Throughout the evening, guests will also enjoy a four-course meal, open bar and live entertainment.

Speakers at the event will include: chief executive of the Care Tech Foundation, Jonathan Freeman; chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society, Jeremy Hughes CBE; and CEO of The Care Workers Charity, Richard Muncaster - all of whom will discuss the incredible impact this event has on the sector as a whole.

Avnish Goyal says: “After last year’s successful launch event where we raised £145,000, we are incredibly excited to be hosting the second dedicated charity event for the care sector which will help key charities that care providers and industry suppliers have an invested interest in supporting.

“The fun-filled event will also be a fabulous networking opportunity for all, as well as an opportunity to support the great work of Alzheimer’s Society and The Care Workers Charity so that they can continue to support people living with dementia and provide financial support to care workers who have fallen on hard times.”

Chief executive of the Alzheimer’s Society Jeremy Hughes CBE says: “I’m thrilled that Alzheimer’s Society has been asked to be beneficiary of this wonderful event. It’s really inspiring to see the care sector uniting to improve the lives of people with dementia.

“With 70 per cent of care home residents living with dementia, many of you will know better than me the scale and the complexity of our collective challenge. There remains grave inequality in the availability and quality of support available to the 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK.

"At Alzheimer’s Society – in this, our 40th anniversary year – we’re more determined than ever to put this right. While we continue to invest in cutting-edge research, campaigning and social change, we’re launching a new service, Dementia Connect, that will offer personalised support to everyone living with dementia in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.

"Your presence at this year’s Care Sector Fundraising Ball will help us to achieve this vision – and we, along with the millions affected by dementia in the UK, are hugely grateful for your support.”

CEO of The Care Workers Charity, Richard Muncaster says “The Care Sector Fundraising Ball is a unique opportunity for the sector to come together and show its collective commitment to the Care Workers Charity and the front-line care staff who we work with. The ball generates vital funds that enable us to support care workers through some of the most challenging times of their lives, enabling them to face the future with renewed hope.”

Jonathan Freeman, chief executive of the CareTech Foundation and chief executive officer of CareTech Holdings plc, says: “The Care Sector Fundraising Ball is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the vital contribution care workers make to society and we at the CareTech Foundation are honoured to support it.

"Up and down the country, carers are helping some of the most vulnerable in society lead fulfilling lives, often in highly stressful, demanding circumstances. We should celebrate the service these well-trained, experienced professionals give to the country and their dedication to those in need of help. The Care Sector Ball is a great event which allows us to do just that.”
