Swansea home sold to local provider

Swn Y Gan, an established nursing home in the Welsh village of Penclawdd, situated north of the Gower Peninsula, has been sold.

Located six miles south of Junction 47 off the M4, near Swansea and the Gower Beaches, and situated on a half an acre site, the purpose built nursing home is registered for 28 residents. Benefitting from strong occupancy levels, the well established nursing home is highly regarded in the local community and maintains an enviable reputation for delivering excellent quality care.

The home was established by the previous owners, Richard and Nicola Hughes, who have operated the business for over 29 years. The husband and wife team took the difficult decision to sell so they could enjoy their retirement.

Marking their second acquisition through Christie & Co, the nursing home has been purchased by expanding local operator, Capital Care Homes Ltd, with plans to expand further across South Wales.

Jayesh Mehta, managing director of Capital Care Homes, comments, “Swn Y Gan is a perfect fit – medium sized, lovely staff and offering an excellent standard of care. We are looking forward to bringing this into our family of homes.”

Oliver McCarthy, the business agent at Christie & Co who handled the sale, comments, "We are delighted to be a part of Capital Care Homes’ journey and we wish them all the very best at Swn y Gan Nursing Home and hope that Richard and Nicola enjoy their well-earned retirement.

"The market for care homes in South Wales is stronger than it has been for many years and we continue to see an abundance of well funded buyers seeking opportunities in the region."
