Lothian House in Spennymoor, County Durham, has become the sixth HC-One care home to be rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
In a glowing report, the CQC highlighted the “extremely person-centred” care at the home, noting tthe family culture present across the service. The Lothian House team were showered with praise for going “above and beyond” for the people they care for – for example, the CQC cited how residents were treated to and supported to go on a holiday to a local caravan park, allowing them to enjoy a trip to the seaside and have a meal in a restaurant. One resident described the experience as “fantastic” to inspectors, adding that they “laughed from morning until night”.
The CQC’s impressive assessment of Lothian House was shared by residents, relatives and staff at the home, who spoke of being part of “one big family”. One resident said that the family atmosphere had “boosted their confidence” while another said they would give the staff “10 out of 10”.
Jill Carr, home manager at Lothian House, says: “This report is fantastic news. A massive achievement by the Lothian House team and the result of endless hard work and commitment to delivering the kindest care for every resident.”
Stephen Butterworth, managing director at HC-One, says: “I would like to extend my congratulations to the whole team at Lothian House on such an impressive report. The home is a real asset to the HC-One family, and they deserve every single bit of praise they have received.
“We are dedicated to achieving our aim of being the care provider of choice for those looking for the very best care and support, and employer of choice for the best, most professional, and kindest care staff. I am immensely proud and humbled to work alongside such outstanding colleagues.”
