Winchester based residential and nursing home, Brendoncare Park Road, is celebrating after the Care Quality Commission (CQC) rated it ‘good’ in all categories, following an inspection in February.
The home in Park Road, Winchester, provides residential and nursing care for 41 residents. Its aim is to enable older people to live independent, happy and fulfilling lives.
During its inspection, the CQC rated the home ‘good’ in all five areas - safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. In the report, published recently, it noted that people received person-centred care which was responsive to their specific needs and wishes.
Residents had access to a wide range of activities and there were regular visits from school children who arranged musical performances for the residents and also got involved in some of the activities taking place.
The CQC recognised that the staff were warm and caring and supported residents with empathy. There was a warm, homely atmosphere in the home.
The CQC noted that staff were well supported by the home management team and they were all clear about their roles and responsibilities. Staff were well supported through training, supervision and appraisal. There was a culture of high quality care. Comments made by relatives to the CQC were, “The care is good, they are so patient,” and “The staff are brilliant, easy to get on with.”
Erin Langley, the care home manager, comments, “The latest CQC report on Brendoncare Park Road recognises the commitment and dedication of all members of the team. I am proud of everyone who works here and their determination to support each resident in the best way possible to meet individual needs. We are pleased the inspection recognises that our residents are treated with privacy and dignity and to be as independent as possible.”
