Buxton Lodge celebrates success

Staff and residents at Buxton Lodge care home in Caterham-on-the-hill, Surrey are celebrating after receiving a glowing report from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which rated the care home 'good' in all areas.

The Buxton Lodge team were praised by the CQC for their “kindness and compassion”. Inspectors were impressed at how staff treated residents with dignity and respect at all times and acknowledged the “established and affectionate” relationship staff and residents had with each other. One resident told the CQC that Buxton Lodge staff "are like family.”

Its activities programme was also picked out as a highlight, with the report praising the range of activities on offer for residents and how they went above and beyond to celebrate each residents’ culture and the things that are special to them.

The CQC’s praise was reflected in comments from one relative who told the inspector that their family member used to be withdrawn but after moving into the home, they are more sociable and happy to join residents in activities.
