Audley Group has raised over £1700 in a village-wide ‘bake off’ for the Dove Ward, Great Western Hospital; the event was part of a larger fund raising drive to support Audley’s care director, Joanna Lander, who is being treated for leukaemia at the ward.
The event was a great success across the country, with healthy inter-village competitions for the most beautiful and best tasting cakes.
The bake off marked the latest in a series of fundraising events for the Dove Ward, through Brighter Futures Charity. Next on the agenda is the Audley Night Walk on 22 February, a 13 mile walk from Warwick Castle to Audley Binswood in Leamington Spa, via Kenilworth Castle. The 60 strong Audley team aim to celebrate with a hot chocolate at the finish, at midnight.
Joanna Lander took on the role of care director in mid-2018, having worked at Audley for eight years. She started as care branch manager in 2010 before progressing on to become regional operations manager in 2012, head of care operation in 2015 and now care director.
Paul Morgan, managing director operations at Audley Group says: “Audley has a long history of supporting cancer charities, but this has become a cause even closer to our hearts and our staff and owners have wholeheartedly thrown themselves into raising money for the Dove Ward, and to support our fantastic care director.
“We’re delighted with the result of the bake off – and this is just the start. An incredible 60 members of our dedicated Audley team have jumped at the chance to walk through the night in February and I know they are going to raise another spectacular amount. I’m looking forward to leading the way!”
