Green light for Sarisbury Green home

Proposals for a new 75-bed care home in Sarisbury Green have been given the go ahead by Fareham Borough Council.

The planning application, submitted by specialist healthcare property developer Prime Plc, was passed on Wednesday 12 December 2018.

Plans for the care home had initially been rejected, following concerns over the access point for the new facility. However, Prime worked closely with council officers to amend the proposals and ensure a safer traffic solution could be found, which would allow the much needed facility to gain planning approval.

Bob Smaylen, development director for Prime, says: “Using our expertise in community care facilities and healthcare property development, we presented a revised proposal which would address the undersupply of high-quality care home places in Sarisbury Green and, in particular, the lack of specialist dementia care. We are delighted that the changes we made to the plans have been rubber stamped by the Council.”

As well as providing 75 high quality care home beds for the area, the facility, which will be operated by Care UK, could also create up to 80 jobs, providing a real boost for employment in the area. The care home itself will also feature facilities which will be open to the public, such as a hair and nail salon and a coffee bar. Work will begin on site in the coming months.
