Dr Pete Calveley, CEO of Barchester Healthcare, was recently awarded the prestigious 'Outstanding Contribution to Care' award at the 2018 Laing Buisson Awards, which were held in the spectacular ballroom at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
The esteemed Laing Buisson Awards, nicknamed 'The Oscars of Health and Social Care' are in their 13th year of recognising excellence. Judged independently, the awards focus on the people providing the care as well as their advisors.
The awards took place at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge, where the winners of the 29 categories were presented with their trophies in front of an audience of over 1000 of their peers.
Host for the night, Have I Got News for You writer and comedian Alexander Armstrong, who presented the award alongside Henry Elphick, CEO of LaingBuisson, said: “It was a unanimous decision at Laing Buisson to present Dr Pete Calveley with the Outstanding Contribution Award for his excellent leadership and for his extensive business knowledge and understanding of the care sector.”
Pete Calveley said of his award: “I am very proud to have won this award. The care sector is a demanding and ever changing one, but at the crux of it all is people wanting to live fulfilling lives, who need our expertise, and I never want to lose sight of that at any level of care.
"I want to thank my teams at Barchester for all of their hard work day in and day out, and to those who are in the care sector working on improving the lives of those we care for. I look forward to the future where our aging population continue to live better, healthier and longer lives.”
Barchester Healthcare also took home the award for Property Developer of the Year 2018 on the night, which was collected by Pete alongside Barchester’s director of property services Mark Bennett, chief financial officer Mark Hazlewood and Mike O’Reilly, Barchester’s general counsel and director of care, risk and compliance.
