Optalis staff make awards final

Employees from social care provider, Optalis, were delighted to be named as finalists in three categories in the regional Great British Care Awards.

The individuals were shortlisted from hundreds of nominations in the categories of The Care Innovator Award, Home Care Team Award and The Front-line Leaders Award.

Anne Mograby from Oakbridge Day Centre in Windsor was nominated as Care Innovator thanks to her ability to ‘empower customers to be the best that they can be.’

Leigh Horton, a care worker in Mokattam, one of Optalis’ residential care homes, was finalist for The Front-line Leaders Award, after being praised by colleagues for being one of Optalis’ rising stars.

Mokattam received a ‘good’ rating following a recent CQC inspection and supportive comments about the staff included, “Really amazing, really caring” and “Highly valued by our families for the relationship and the care given.”

The team at Optalis’ Windsor Day Centre for Older People was also nominated due to their continued drive to go the ‘extra mile to make customers feel safe and welcome.’

Optalis’ chief executive officer, Martin Farrow, comments: “I am very proud of the extraordinary work that the Optalis teams carry out every day to ensure our customers receive the best care possible.

“These individuals make an incredible difference to the lives of those in their respective communities and they are certainly worthy of the award nominations. I’m delighted that they have been recognised for their hard work and dedication to the sector.”

The Optalis nominees attended a gala dinner on 3 November where 300 guests took part in an Oscars like ceremony. Although the Optalis nominees didn’t win, it was still an enormous achievement to get this far,” said Optalis assistant director Helen Woodland who attended the event.

The Great British Care Awards celebrate the achievements of individuals and teams across the social care sector, whether it be specialist services, residential or home care.
